Shah Rukh Khan’s Dunki shows major jump in US market after trailer release – Times of India

Shah Rukh Khan, riding high on the triumphs of Pathaan and Jawan, is preparing for his third 2023 release, Dunki, a collaboration with the acclaimed director Rajkumar Hirani. Renowned for blockbusters like the Munnabhai series, 3 Idiots, PK and Sanju, Hirani’s first project with SRK is poised to hit Indian theaters on December 22, with the US release slated for December 21.

The advance ticket sales of the film, which had opened in the US in limited screens, was struggling to get a decent opening. But as soon as the trailer was dropped a couple of days ago, the film jumped to a very good start. As per current numbers coming in, Dunki tickets are being sold in about 286 locations where it has 808 shows and has sold about 2001 tickets, which only three days ago was 30 tickets from 125 locations and 351 shows.
Dunki was going to be a solo release till Prashanth Neel and Prabhas decided to arrive on the same date with Salaar: Part One- Ceasefire. The pan-India film’s makers were forced to delay their film from their original date of September 28, because of post-production issues. Both the films are yet to begin their advance booking in India, but have opened their advance sales in the USA. Trailers of both films were released a few days apart from each other and both went on to become the most viewed trailers in the first 24 hours.
Besides Shah Rukh Khan, Dunki also stars Taapsee Pannu, Vicky Kaushal and Boman Irani in the lead, while Salaar features Prithviraj, Tinnu Anand and Shruti Haasan alongside Prabhas.
