
Filmmaker Karan Johar recently opened up about intriguing behind-the-scenes moments from his iconic debut film ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’ and the chemistry between actors Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol.
During an interview with Film Companion, Karan Johar shared an amusing anecdote about filming a pivotal scene without informing the lead actors.
Recounting the memorable instance, Karan Johar revealed how he secretly filmed the emotional reunion scene between Rahul (played by Shah Rukh Khan) and Anjali (played by Kajol) without their knowledge.He said he explained the scene to them and played a song for atmosphere. Before the rehearsal began, he told his DOP to roll the camera. After they were done, he said cut. Shah Rukh asked, ‘Now we will do the take?’ he said, ‘No, we have rolled.’ He was surprised,” Karan Johar reminisced.
Karan Johar further recounted his father Yash Johar‘s nonchalant reaction to the incident, saying, “My father was like, ‘Beta tu ghar jaa aur soja. Ho gaya na kaam (Son, you just come home and sleep). Don’t worry about anything.'”
Reflecting on his recent directorial venture, ‘Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahani’, Johar praised the impeccable chemistry between actors Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt. He highlighted their conversational sync and revealed opting for single continuous length shots for certain scenes due to their natural rapport. Detailing one particular instance during the shoot, Karan Johar mentioned that one shot was so perfect that they were done by 1 pm. He said, “We had nothing else planned for the day. I called pack up and got a frantic call. I said, ‘I didn’t need to, what should I do?'”
