This month saw one of the major clashes at the box office where Vicky Kaushal starrer Sam Bahadur and Ranbir Kapoor starrer Animal released on the same day. While the latter set the cash registers ringing at the box office, the Meghna Gulzar film received a lot of praises from the audience and has been making quite some business too.
Vicky who has been confident about his film’s run at the box office since day one irrespective of the clash, reiterates that there will always be space for “good” films.He said at an event last night, “As artistes we are working for the audience, and when they do come to watch our films and enjoy it, toh bohot khushi hoti hai. Today we have the capacity to release multiple films together. We have theatres, exhibitors we have everything. I feel that why two, we can have five films have a simultaneous release. We have had a couple of examples where two films have worked together at the box office. So, even if three films release together and they are good they will definitely work at the box office.”
The actor has been confident about his film and during the trailer launch of the movie in which he played Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw, he had said, “Today, we as an industry should give the option of multiple films on the same day to the audience, that’s how we are going to flourish as an industry. We have only these many weeks in a year, but we as an industry can’t limit ourselves to making only those many films a year. We will have multiple films and releases on the same day and we want to build an atmosphere where multiple films can work together. If the audience resonates with the films, both the films will work. I’m as excited for Animal as anyone else.” Vicky, who had a meet and greet with his fans at an event last night spoke about his love for wrist watches. He said, “When my brother and I were in school we wanted a wrist watch. Our parents said that they would give it to us on our birthdays. Since my birthday came first I got the watch first.” He also looked back at his journey so far. “My journey didn’t start with things being rosy, it started with perseverance. I have been knocking doors, doing auditions, then I cracked my first film and then my first hit film and so on,” he said.
