He told Film Companion that when he was doing the film, he didn’t think Abrar was a villain but as a human being who has gone through immense pain in his life and the relationships that he shares with the family. While preparing for the character, Bobby was told that he had a grandfather who committed suicide in front of him and it was such a big shock that he lost his voice. This was something which Bobby kept in his mind.
“And I thought about my family. The Deols are such emotional people. But we will do anything for each other. I am 54. I have seen so much in my life. I have felt pain and I have felt happiness. The pain can really drive you nuts,” Bobby said.
He also said that Abrar and Ranbir Kapoor’s character Ranvijay Singh almost share the same journey in Animal. He said that when him and Ranbir are fighting, the audience will wonder who is the villain and who is the hero. “The film brings out those elements. Everything that is made, everything that is written, it’s a reflection of what is happening in society,” he added.

Talking about playing evil characters on the screen, Bobby shared that he used to feel disgusted with himself when he started shooting for it. “I was feeling icky. But then with the same people, who have done bad things, I am having dinner and chatting,” he said.
A few days ago, Bobby had mentioned that he didn’t look at his character as a villain but as someone with childhood trauma, which makes him lose his voice and swears to avenge his grandfather’s death. He also called him a very family oriented person, someone who is also romantic and has three wives. He can kill and also get killed for his family.
