Animal director Sandeep Reddy Vanga feels targeted by film reviewers: There is a gang of critics who appreciate certain filmmakers’ movies only | Hindi Movie News – Times of India

The Ranbir Kapoor starrer Animal has become an all-time blockbuster by crossing Rs 500 crore mark in India and inching towards Rs 900 crore gross worldwide. But the film, which also stars Bobby Deol, Rashmika Mandanna, Anil Kapoor and Triptii Dimri, has also met with criticism from film critics who called Animal misogynistic and graphically violent. Director Sandeep Reddy Vanga has now come down hard on film critics who have given negative reviews about Animal.
In his recent interview with Connect FM Canada, Sandeep took a direct dig at Rajeev Masand, Anupama Chopra and Sucharita Tyagi and called them ‘illiterate’ and ‘uneducated’. He said that they just take out certain aspects of the film and criticize it instead of looking at the film as a whole.
The director added that these film critics are making money, fame, name, everything by criticising his film and their shot to fame was criticising Kabir Singh. “Nobody speaks about the craft, the editing, sound design, because they are literally illiterate, uneducated when it comes to films. They have no sense of how to criticise the film or review the film,” he said.
Sandeep then went on to add that if one has to consider morality, then they should stop making films and just make cartoons instead. “They’re saying children are walking out of the theatres in tears, high school girls are feeling unsafe; they should not be watching the film, it’s rated A,” he added.

‘Animal’ director Sandeep Reddy Vanga says ‘only 15-20 jokers’ think that the film is ‘misogynistic’: ‘It’s a wrong word to use…’

He further said that Anupama constantly messaged him before Animal release asking for an interview but he saw a different colour after the film’s release. He also shared that Rajeev also called him for a roundtable interview but he refused to be a part of it because he hated his film.

He also said that he feels targeted by the reviewers and alleged that there is a gang of critics, who like a certain kind of cinema, and they appreciate certain filmmakers’ movies only. He agreed that the criticism has multiplied in Animal from Kabir Singh. He is also certain that it will further increase during the release of Prabhas starrer

Spirit. But he is unaffected by criticism. “Fark nahi padta, kyuki lakhon logo ko pasand aa rahi hai (I don’t care about critics because the audiences are liking it,” he said.
Animal is now set to surpass the total box office collections of Sunny Deol starrer Gadar 2. Going by the current trend, it is certain that the Sandeep Reddy Vanga directorial will achieve this milestone before the release of Shah Rukh Khan’s Dunki and Prabhas starrer Salaar on December 21 and 22.
