Dunki gets lesser shows compared to Jawan and Pathaan in USA | Hindi Movie News – Times of India

Shah Rukh Khan is the man of the year having delivered two back to back all time blockbusters with Jawan and Pathaan. He’s now coming up with his third film of the year Dunki, his first collaboration with Rajkumar Hirani. The superstar is often considered as India’s biggest export to America given how his movies from Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge to Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham to Kal Ho Naa Ho to the latest Jawan and Pathaan have done amazing business at the American box office.

But when it comes to his latest release Dunki, the makers are taking very cautious steps in its release strategy. The film, which is just 2 days away from its release in the United States of America, which is one of the biggest for Shah Rukh Khan films, has been able to secure just 500 locations and has sold about 24 thousand tickets for 1450 odd shows, collecting $325,738( Rs 2.70 crore) . Having looked at his other films of the year, Jawan has secured nearly 570 locations and had over 2200 shows for its opening day, while Pathaan was released in 647 locations and had over 1900 shows for itself. Pathan had gone on to collect over $17.45 million and Jawan had collected nearly $15.23 million through runs in USA.
The trade feels that despite the low number of screens and shows for Dunki, it is performing well at the advance booking window, having added $60,000 odd in one night. But the journey for the film in SRK’s biggest market out of India is going to be difficult as one side there is Timothee Chalamet’s Wonka which is raking in high numbers already and on other side is Prabhas’s Salaar which opened its advance booking way to secure more shows and more screens.
