Saif Ali Khan recalls his married days with Amrita Singh – Times of India

Trust Karan Johar to bring unique combinations to his couch for his chat show Koffee with Karan and this week it was Saif Ali Khan and his legendary mother Sharmila Tagore. Together they spoke on a variety of topics and one was Saif’s first marriage with Amrita Singh, he got married when he was barely 21, while Amrita was 34.

Talking about it Saif said, “It was kind of like running away from home in a sense.” Adding more he said “I don’t remember so many things going on and I found a kind of security and an idea that it feels great.I thought I could make a home out of that.”
Adding to Saif’s comment, Sharmila Tagore said , “Both of them were very similar. Both of them were very funny. Whenever they would talk, it would be a lot of laughter, mimicking other people, tearing somebody to bits in a funny way. He is good at mimicry and she is a great storyteller. They looked really happy together.”
Saif and Amrita’s marriage lasted for about 13 years, they parted ways in 2004. Talking about the end of his marriage Saif said, “This is what it was then. But unfortunately, doing it at the age of 20 is young. Things change, but she was a great support to me. She is the mother of two of my kids and I have a good relationship with her and it’s all respectful now. It’s very bad when these things don’t work out, only for children I feel it is something that you don’t want.”
