Amruta Subhash recalls a domestic violence scene that left her shocked | Hindi Movie News – Times of India

Amruta Subhash is a renowned actress in Marathi and Hindi cinema and in recent times she has gained a lot of acclaim for her work in projects like Lust Stories 2, Gully Boy and Bombay Begums to name a few. Speaking about her experience in front of the camera, the actress reminisced about a scene in a daily soap that left her utterly repulsed.

She was part of a roundtable discussion with Kareena Kapoor Khan, Sidharth Malhotra, Kajol, Sanya Malhotra, Jaideep Ahlawat, and Tillotama Shome. During this session Amruta shared that she was once part of a TV show where she would get beaten up by her on-screen husband. He would come home drunk and she would remove his shoes and within no time she would get beaten up. She recalled, “But then she’s just taking it in and I’m asking, ‘When is she going to retaliate?’ So, I was not liking. He was coming home drunk and I was removing his shoes and that was working. The TRP was going high.”The actress shared that after a point it got to her and she would ask the producer when she would retaliate but she was told that TRP is going high by seeing what she is doing and what is happening to her character. The actress said, “It was so sad that my producer was telling me that when he slaps you, the TRP goes high so, he’ll slap. I was like ‘No, I can’t take it. Let her also do something’. And that showed me something about our society where the TRP is rising when she is being slapped. So, I was feeling very suffocated and I really wanted to retaliate.”
Amruta highlighted that this showed her as an aspect of society, which she was unaware of.
