EXCLUSIVE! ‘Shah Rukh Khan doesn’t have an intimidating personality,’ says Taapsee Pannu

Few days ago Javed Akhtar was hosting a show, called ‘Main Koi Aisa Geet Gaaon’ where he was regaling stories about some of his songs. While talking about Dunki he said, “I usually don’t write just one track in the film. Raju Hirani saab asked me to write lyrics of just one song. I declined but he insisted. He said, ‘Yeh gaana aapke alawakoi nahin likh sakta’. I kept unreasonable terms in front of him (hoping that he’d be discouraged)’.”
Javed Akhtar continued, “Without batting an eyelid, he agreed to those terms. Yeh mera kamaalnahin hai. Yeh kamaal Raju Hirani ka hai. Jiske peeche 5 super-duper hit films thi, usko samaj thiki yeh gaana mujhe iss aadmi se milega. Ego was not governing him. His love for his film was governing him. Hats off to him!”
Javed Akhtar didn’t publicly disclose his requirements, but according to Film Information magazine , the lyricist had specific conditions. He insisted on separate credits for the song rather than clubbing his name with other lyricists on the screen and his credit be displayed for the same duration as Rajkumar Hirani‘s name, and a fee of Rs. 25 lakhs. Javed Akhtar confirmed the news to the magazine.
