Throwback: When Gauri’s brother Vikrant had murder on his mind every time he saw Shah Rukh Khan | Hindi Movie News – Times of India

Before Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri Khan‘s wedding on October 25, 1991, they encountered resistance from Gauri’s orthodox Hindu family. Concerned about their daughter marrying a Muslim, they doubted Shah Rukh’s sincerity and felt he was taking advantage of their “naive” daughter. Gauri’s brother, Vikrant Chibber, even harbored intense negative feelings, expressing a desire to “murder” Shah Rukh every time he encountered him.

In an interview with Filmfare, Gauri revealed that her brother Vikrant, who is a very laid back person, would turn red every time he saw Shah Rukh. She added that her brother was very possessive of her and had murder on his mind every time he caught Shah Rukh looking at her.
Despite being just a year and a half older than Gauri, Vikrant issued threats to physically harm Shah Rukh Khan if spotted near his sister. However, Shah Rukh, considering Vikrant as Gauri’s brother, never responded to the threats. In the face of Vikrant’s aggressive statements like, ‘I’ll beat you to pulp, I’ll bash you up,’ Shah Rukh calmly nodded and replied, ‘Yeah, yeah, whatever you say.’
Gauri emphasized the double standards within her family, recounting how her brother was allowed to date a girl when he was in the 12th standard, while she was prohibited from expressing interest in a boy during her 9th standard. She met Shah Rukh when she was in the ninth grade, while Vikrant also started dating his girlfriend in the same year and month. Despite Vikrant’s initial resistance, it took him four years to come to terms with Gauri’s relationship with Shah Rukh.
