Marry My Husband review: Park Min-young has our sympathies and Na In-woo has our hearts!
Park Min-young debuts as a weak, cancer-stricken patient in ‘Marry My Husband’. Her impressive transformation for this drama (read: weight loss of 37 kilos) is evident and convinces you to sympathise with her. The bitter circumstances of her marriage, poor finances, a nasty mother-in-law and an overly dominating husband, further set the stage for a pitiful situation.
However, the makers refuse to dwell on this sob story and Park Min-young quickly time-travels from 2023 to 2013! We are impressed with the pace as the dynamics switch to a gripping plot. Armed with knowledge about future events, Park Min-young realises the wicked antics of her best friend Jung Soo-Min (Song Ha-Yoon) and is totally repulsed by her then boyfriend Park Min-Hwan (Lee Yi-Kyung).
As Park Min Young navigates the new found realities of life, we are introduced with the charming, nerdy looking General Manager Yoo Ji-Hyuk (Na In-woo)! He will instantly have you heart with his caring ways and can easily be crowned the Prince Charming of this drama. Every time Park Min-young and Na In-woo cross paths, hearts flutter, leaving the audience wanting for more!
Amidst these twisted relationships, Park Min-young realises that life has given her a chance to re-think her choices and change her fate! Thus she puts her sweet revenge plan into motion! What’s more? Ji-hyuk’s meeting with the third lead in the narrative and Park Min-young’s school mate celebrity chef Baek Eun-ho (Lee Ki-kwang), adds a layer of intrigue, which will only unfold in the future episodes.
Yoo Hee-yeon (Choi Gyu-ri) also deserves a special mention for her lively addition to the team and her camaraderie with Park Min-young will make you reminisce about your school bestie!
‘Marry My Husband’ carefully weaves a plot of friendship, betrayal, hushed emotions and secrecy, which promise to blossom into a binge-worthy drama in the coming weeks! Park Min-young’s nuanced performance and the fast paced narrative make ‘Marry My Husband’ a must-watch choice.
