Super Deluxe‘ did not become India’s official entry for the Oscars despite making it to the shortlist, sparking a debate online. Addressing these concerns, Vijay provided a firm response but opted not to delve into the topic further.
Although Vijay acknowledged the disappointment for him and the Super Deluxe team, he avoided delving deeply into the topic. However, he quickly attributed the film’s exclusion as India’s official entry to ‘politics,’ suggesting that there were underlying factors influencing the decision.

Elaborating further, the Farzi actor told Bollywood Hungama that the film’s exclusion wasn’t solely because of his involvement. Regardless of his presence in the film, he wished for its recognition. However, he alluded to something happening behind the scenes that he preferred not to discuss, deeming it unnecessary.
