Vaani Kapoor steps into the shoes of Ileana D’cruz for Raid 2: report | Hindi Movie News – Times of India

If the year 2023 belonged to Shah Rukh Khan with three back to back releases in Pathaan, Jawan and Dunki, the year 2024 definitely belongs to Ajay Devgn with five releases. He will kick start the year with Abhishek Kapoor’s next with his nephew Aman Devgn and Raveena’s daughter Rasha Thadani, followed by the Hindi remake of Gujarati film Vash. Post that, he will be seen in Neeraj Pandey’s Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha, Rohit Shetty’s Singham and finally, Rajkumar Gupta’s Raid 2.It is being suggested that while Saurabh Shukla continues to play Tauji in Raid 2, Vaani Kapoor steps into the shoes of Ileana D‘cruz as Ajay’s wife.

As per a report in PeepingMoon, Ileana reportedly passed on the role to focus on her personal life, thus paving the way for Vaani Kapoor, who is known for her films like Befikre and Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui. It is also being suggested that Vaani has already begun shooting for her portions in Mumbai, and her pairing with Ajay will add freshness to the project.
Raid 2 continues the story of the first installment, featuring Ajay Devgn reprising his role as IRS officer Amay Patnaik in a fictional narrative. Unlike the first film which was inspired by a real-life income-tax raid, the sequel explores a fictional case. While the main antagonist is yet to be finalized, the screenplay is crafted by Raj Kumar Gupta, Ritesh Shah, Jaydeep Yadav, and Karan Vyas.
