During his interaction at the CNN News18 Indian of the Year 2023 Award, the legendary director opened up about why it took them so long to work together. He said, he can’t really pinpoint why it took so long, but added that it is tough when you have an actor of the capability of Kamal Haasan who has done so many so many things, so unless one has something formidable for them, it is irrelevant to go to the actor just because you have worked together in the past. He hopes that the two of them would be able to bring some meaty characters on screen.
Mani Ratnam also opened about how big stars don’t have egos. He shared that it has never been difficult to work with stars, especially if you are clear on what you want; and they are happy to have somebody make their decisions.
