Neetu Kapoor says Rishi Kapoor was a strict boyfriend; was never a friend to his children Ranbir Kapoor and Riddhima: ‘He bullied people’ | Hindi Movie News – Times of India

Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Kapoor had tied the knot on January 22, 1980. It is said that the actors got romantically involved during the making of Yash Chopra’s ‘Kabhie Kabhie’ and later decided to get married. Neetu appeared on this week’s episode of ‘Koffee With Karan 8′ with Zeenat Aman and during this time, the actress recalled old memories with Rishi.
Recalling those golden memories, Neetu said, “We had a fabulous time, especially with Yash ji (Chopra). We would party in the night, play antakshari, play dumb charades. So, that was like one picnic. That was really-really fun.”
However, Neetu wasn’t allowed to party much as Rishi was a very strict boyfriend. She revealed, “But I had this Rishi Kapoor as my boyfriend. So, I never partied-partied. Because he was always like, yeh nahi karna, woh nahi karna, ghar aajao (don’t do this, don’t do that, come home). So, I’ve never seen that wild side of partying in those days.”
Infact, not just Rishi, but even Neetu’s mother was very strict. “I was committed and I had a very strict mother and a very strict boyfriend. So, I was torn between both of them,” she laughed.
While talking about Rishi, Neetu also revealed some honest things about him and his equation with his children, Ranbir Kapoor and Riddhima Kapoor Sahani. She said, “Chintu Ji (Rishi Kapoor) was a very loving person. He had a lot of love in him. But he never really showed his love. He always kept his distance and bullied people, not showing his love. Especially with me and my children. Respect and all he lost out on a lot with his children. He was never a friend to them. But that year, he opened up. He showed love, went towards me also, he was so lovely. We had the best time.”
Neetu choses to remember the good parts about her relationship with him always. “For me, I don’t like to remember the sad part. I like to remember the good part of our relationship and our time in New York. So New York was very sad, but we had the best year. I had the best year of my life.”
Rishi was undergoing treatment for Leukemia in New York for two years, before he passed away in 2020.
