This became evident with Bae In-hyuk and Lee Se-young, the stars of MBC’s recent romantic-comedy series, ‘The Story of Park’s Marriage Contract.’ The on-screen chemistry between Bae In-hyuk and Lee Se-young, showcased at MBC’s year-end awards ceremony, sparked speculation about a potential off-screen romance.Bae In-hyuk addressed these rumours in an exclusive interview with The Korea Times.
Bae shared his amusement about the rumours, stating, “I thought it was hilarious. I didn’t know until I got a text asking if it’s real.” He attributed the rumours to the viewers enjoying their on-screen chemistry, particularly during the awards ceremony. He expressed his positive perspective, saying, “I feel the dating rumours mean that many people enjoyed (the series). Seeing them view us positively outside the drama, I feel like we succeeded in immersing them in the characters of Tae-ha and Yeon-woo.”
“The Story of Park’s Marriage Contract” is based on a web novel and revolves around Park Yeon-woo (played by Lee Se-young), a girl from the 19th century who time-travels to 2023 after losing her husband (played by Bae In-hyuk) on their wedding day. The series explores their destinies becoming intertwined through a contract marriage proposed by Kang Tae-ha (Bae’s character).
In the interview, Bae credited co-star Lee Se-young, who has considerable experience with period works, for her guidance during the Joseon era scenes. He expressed gratitude for the valuable experience gained while working alongside her.
