The young actor, who made his Bollywood debut in Zoya Akhtar‘s ‘The Archies,’ claimed to be managing his career independently. In a recent interview with Anupama Chopra, Agastya boldly asserted, “I am solo.It gives you a lot of power over your own career.”
He emphasized his desire to personally handle all aspects of his career, stating, “If I want to work with you, I would love to have an equation with you. I like to feel that you could pick up the phone and call me.” The actor insisted that he is not too busy and can easily manage things on his own without the need for an agency.
However, shortly after the video went viral, a Reddit user shared screenshots from ‘The Archies’ post-credit reel, revealing mentions of the agency representing the actor. The revelation sparked a wave of reactions on social media, with users questioning the actor’s need to make such statements.
Comments ranged from calling out the alleged ‘lie‘ with phrases like “Jhooot boleyyyy kauwaaa katey” to speculating on Agastya’s potential influences, including references to fellow film industry stars like Sai Pallavi and Ranbir Kapoor.
Sai previously made headlines when she revealed that she turned down PR firms and ‘middlemen’ for a more personal approach to her films. A fan commented, “This is exactly what Sai Pallavi mentioned about not having a manager or a middle man, that the director and she can have a conversation, talk over phone and work it out. While in her case, that is a true statement. PR teams are now using no PR as the strategy for those who obviously cannot function independently but still need to build the serious-artist-who-just-cares-about- acting-and-nothing-else image.”
Questions also emerged about whether Agastya Nanda may have been influenced by Ranbir Kapoor’s approach. Some users pointed out the similarity between his statements and Karan Johar‘s recent revelations about RK’s professional life.
“Maybe he heard how Johar praised Ranbir on how he doesn’t have any manager and saw how the media was praising it,” another guessed.
Others asked, “This is something which Sai Pallavi said Why do I feel like he’s copying her?”
“Is he trying to copy Ranbir?”
Agastya made his Bollywood debut with ‘The Archies’. The film had a digital debut but was met with harsh criticism.
On the work front, Agastya is set to start work on Sriram Raghavan‘s ‘Ikkis,’ centred on the life of Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal PVC.
