Throwback: When Aishwarya Rai spoke about her surprise ‘roka’ to Abhishek Bachchan | Hindi Movie News – Times of India

Over the last few months, Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan‘s marriage has been the topic for constant speculation and rumors are rife that the couple is heading towards a split. Amidst all this, an old video of Aishwarya talking about her ‘roka‘ to journalist Jitesh Pillai has gone viral. In the video, Aishwarya spoke about her sudden ‘roka’ to Abhishek and how, she, being a South Indian had no inkling what it means.

In the video, she can be heard saying, “There’s something called a roka. We’re South Indians, so I don’t know anything called a roka. Suddenly, there is this call from their (Abhishek’s) house to ours that ‘We are coming’. My dad was out of town and we were like, ‘Okay’. I was like, ‘Dad’, and he was like, ‘Yeah, it’ll still take me a day to come’.”

She added, “Pa (Amitabh Bachchan) and everyone was like, ‘We are coming’, and Abhishek is like, ‘I can’t stop him. We’re on our way. We’re on our way this evening. We’re coming to your place.’ I was like, ‘Oh my god.’ So this roka is happening with a call to my father who’s out of town. Mum’s here, we are here. They’ve all arrived and are emotional and I’m like, ‘Oh my god, it’s happened.’ Then they’re like, ‘Come on, let’s go home’. I’m like, ‘What just happened here? Is this an engagement?’ Then they were like, ‘Just come home.’ Then I was sitting on our show’s set,” she added.
Coming back to the couple’s marriage, it was widely reported that Ash has moved out of the Bachchan house. However, ETimes has exclusively learnt that contrary to reports, Aishwarya still lives very much with the Bachchan family. She has been living in the adjacent bungalow to Amitabh Bachchan’s Jalsa, which is internally connected to each other.

Not only this, Aishwarya, Abhishek, Big B, Agastya Nanda and Vrinda Raii were recently spotted and snapped together at Aaradhya Bachchan’s school for a function. A paparazzi told Etimes that although Aishwarya reached the school in a separate car, she waited till the entire family arrived at the venue. They were then seen heading inside together.
Recently, after the Bachchan family joyfully assembled for a group photo at the premiere of Agastya Nanda’s debut movie, The Archies, reports surfaced online about their social media activity. The star-studded event included Amitabh Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai, Aaradhya, Navya Nanda, and Navya’s parents, Nikhil Nanda and Shweta Bachchan. The family was photographed posing for cameras and passionately cheering on Agastya in the photos and videos from the premiere.
During the premiere, Aishwarya was spotted posing alongside Abhishek and Agastya, engaging in playful banter and teasing Agastya about the attention he was receiving on his debut.
