Investigation into Lee Sun Kyun’s Death: Incheon Metropolitan Police Agency Raided | – Times of India

Late actor Lee Sun Kyun‘s case has taken a significant turn with the Gyeonggi Southern Provincial Police Agency’s Anti-Corruption and Economic Crime Investigation Unit assuming control of the investigation, reports Korea Times. This shift comes reportedly after a formal request for external assistance was made by the Incheon Police Agency, aiming to address concerns of potential bias and ensure a fair and impartial inquiry into the allegations of drug use surrounding the late actor.
As part of this probe, the Gyeonggi Nambu Provincial Police Agency has sent investigators to the Incheon Metropolitan Police Agency. According to the news portal, the police reportedly confiscated mobile phones of members from Incheon police agency’s drug crime investigation division along with documents on Lee’s investigation. The move comes amid growing concerns and speculation regarding the potential leakage of internal investigation information to the media. The report stated that the seized items will be checked for confidential details being leaked.
Prominent figures in the South Korean entertainment scene, including acclaimed film director Bong Joon Ho, singer Yoon Jong Shin, and veteran actress Yoon Yeo Jeong, had called for an investigation into the police methods and methods for coverage of the case.
The tragic turn of events unfolded as Lee Sun Kyun, having been summoned for police questioning three times, was found dead in a vehicle on December 27, 2023. This unfortunate incident has sparked significant attention and discussions within the entertainment industry and beyond.
