Last year, Siddharth Anand‘s action-packed film ‘Pathaan,’ featuring Shah Rukh Khan in the lead role, proved to be a box office sensation, grossing Rs 1050.30 crore worldwide. It marked the end of a dry spell for Bollywood in the post-pandemic era and also marked the beginning of a friendship between Siddharth and Shah Rukh. Now, a year later, the director is back with his next project, ‘Fighter,’ starring Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone.Scheduled for release on January 25, it aims to make an impact on the big screen.
In an exclusive interview with News18 Showsha, the director expressed his thoughts on the upcoming release of “Fighter” after the massive success of “Pathaan.”
When questioned about the pressure he feels in light of the heightened expectations set by ‘Pathaan,’ the director acknowledged, “It would be dishonest of me to claim that I am not aware of the weight of the expectations people harbor for me and my films post ‘Pathaan.’ I sense it continuously, but I need to isolate myself and acknowledge that each film has its own distinct journey,” concluded the director of ‘War’ and ‘Bang Bang.’
Recalling the excitement surrounding ‘Pathaan,’ he said that there was no way he could have imagined the film becoming a massive success, even in his wildest dreams. He noted that it came at a time when Hindi films were not performing well, and Bollywood seemed to be facing challenges. According to him, ‘Pathaan’ shattered every norm and broke box office records left, right, and center.
