Bhavatharini’s mortal remains brought to Chennai; Vishal Krishna and Karthi pay their final respect to the National Award winning singer | – Times of India


The music industry mourns the loss of Bhavatharini, the daughter of legendary musician Ilaiyaraaja, as her mortal remains have been brought back to Chennai from Sri Lanka. The 47-year-old National award-winning singer passed away on Thursday, succumbing to her battle with cancer while undergoing treatment in Sri Lanka.
On January 26, 2024 at Ilaiyaraaja’s residence in Chennai, the final journey of Bhavatharini began. Actors Karthi and Vishal Krishna are among the first from the film industry to pay their respects. Both the actors entered wearing white outfits and offered their condolences to the family. The news of her demise has elicited condolences from various quarters of the film fraternity, extending support to her grieving family during this challenging time.

Bhavatharini’s musical legacy is marked by her notable contributions to the Tamil film industry. Making her singing debut with ‘Raasaiya’.

In 2002, Bhavatharini ventured into music composition herself, debuting with the Revathy-directed film ‘Mitr, My Friend’ She continued to make a mark in the industry with subsequent projects, including ‘Phir Milenge’ and various other films.
The final rites of Bhavatharini are scheduled to take place in Chennai on Saturday Jnaury 27, 2024 , offering family, friends, and fans an opportunity to bid farewell to the talented artist. She is survived by her husband, R Sabariraj.
