The project is reportedly a web series which is directed by Amir Satyaveer Singh who has assisted Hirani in the past, revolves around cybercrime and the actor will be playing the role of cybercrime security expert. According to a report in a News18, Hirani is not only producing the show but will also be the showrunner.
Confirming the news, the director of ‘3 Idiots’ stated exclusively to News18 that certain stories demand a long-format approach rather than being condensed into a film. The project currently in progress, featuring Vikrant Massey in the lead, was discovered during the COVID-19 pandemic. The director will take on the role of a showrunner for the series, ensuring full involvement in the show’s development. Expressing excitement about the script and its execution, the director is pleased to be a part of this project.

When inquired about the possibility of making his debut as a director on OTT platforms, he expressed enthusiasm, stating that he would love to do so when he has a compelling story to share. Emphasizing that the platform doesn’t hold primary significance for him, he added that if the story suits television, it should be on TV, and if it aligns with a long-format narrative, then it’s suitable for OTT.
Although the specifics of the show remain undisclosed, the creators intend to film it over a two-month schedule. The series is scheduled to begin production next month, marking Vikrant Massey’s fourth venture in the web series domain following Mirzapur, Broken But Beautiful, and Criminal Justice.
