shahid kapoor reflects on hrithik roshan’s views on stardom; aspires to be like leonardo dicaprio, amitabh bachchan | – Times of India

Hrithik Roshan made waves online when he opened up about the “burden of being a star.” The actor, during an interview, described stardom as a “gift and responsibility,” and also reflected on the downside which often results in him having to pull back on his desire to be an actor over without the weight of the star persona.
Now, Shahid Kapoor, in a subsequent conversation with Film Companion, has shared his insights on the delicate balance between being an actor and a star, especially in the entertainment industry. The actor, who has grappled between the choice of being a star versus an actor throughout his career, offered his perspective on the matter.

Understanding Hrithik’s sentiments, Shahid admitted, “I can understand why he said that. I have the opposite problem. I think I don’t want to lose the actor in me, so sometimes I sacrifice the star.”

Elaborating on the challenges he faces in navigating this duality, Shahid explained, “His journey is very different, and mine is different. For me, the journey is like if you see a Leonardo DiCaprio or Amitabh Bachchan, Dilip Kumar—there are enough examples where there is definitely stardom and some heavy acting chops. I have grown up watching that, and I aspire to that.”

Acknowledging the complexities of the Indian film industry, Shahid said that unlike the Hollywood stars, Bollywood actors have a ‘different industry, where the audience is extremely different.’

While assuring that he will figure it out the balance, he made his resolve, “I won’t let the actor in me go. That’s just not something I am ready to do.”

Shahid, who has been trying his hand at various film genres, will soon be seen on screen in the upcoming romantic drama film ‘Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya‘. In the film, Shahid Kapoor plays a robot scientist who develops feelings and finally marries Kriti’s character, Sifra, a highly intelligent female robot.
