Inder Raj Bahl, Hema Malini’s longtime secretary and film producer, passed away in Mumbai on February 23. Confirming the unfortunate news, Rikku Rakeshnath said, “He has passed away and the prayer meet is on Monday.” He was 92 years old.
Apart from assisting Hema Malini in her career, Bahl also produced numerous films and television shows. He co-produced the Hema Malini starrer ‘Dream Girl’ (1977) with the actress’ mother Jaya Chakravarty.Inder Raj Bahl was also credited for backing ‘Swami’ (1977) starring Girish Karnad and Shabana Azmi, which was directed by Basu Chaterjee and ‘Shaukeen’ (1982) with Basu Chatterjee again. He also produced ‘Banaras’ (2006) with LC Singh and Pankuj Parasher starring Karan Nath and Basu Chatterjee’s TV show ‘Darpan’.
His son Bunty Bahl, who runs a celebrity management company said, “He lived his life king size and gave us all the freedom / knowledge/ liberties & love all his life. Extremely positive and a very Sensible person. Most amazing Human Being who dealt every situation with a positive mind and found solutions rather than adding to the problem.
