Dune 2 Box Office: Timothee Chalamet and Zendaya starrer has a steady week in India; mints Rs 16.67 crore | Hindi Movie News – Times of India



Expectations were high from ‘Dune 2’ as released in India on March 1 and word of mouth publicity worked majorly for the movie. Dune 2 is based on Frank Herbert’s 1965 book Dune and has Timothée Chalamet and Zendaya leading the film. In its first week in India, the film has managed to earn Rs 16.67 crore.
The film had paid previews on Thursday, through which it minted about Rs 70 lakhs.On Friday the film opened to Rs 2.75 crore of which Rs 25 lakhs came from Hindi. On Saturday the film saw a near 38 percent jump and collected Rs 3.8 crore of which Rs 45 lakhs came from Hindi. And on Sunday ‘Dune 2’ jumped by another 5 percent to collect Rs 4 crore, thus taking the total collection of the film to Rs 11.25 crore. On Monday the film dropped by 66 percent and earned Rs 1.35 crore, of Rs 20 lakhs from Hindi, but that point on the film has remained steady with each day crossing Rs 1 crore mark. ‘Dune 2’ is nowhere close to the success story written by many Hollywood biggies. The film’s limited release may have affected its collection.
‘Dune 2’ features Timothee Chalamet, Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson, Josh Brolin, Stellan Skarsgard, Dave Bautista, Charlotte Rampling, and Javier Bardem, along with Austin Butler, Florence Pugh, Christopher Walken, Lea Seydoux, and Souheila Yacoub.
The film follows the journey of Paul Atreides, played by Chalamet as he joins forces with the Fremen led by Javier Bardem , the desert inhabitants of the planet Arrakis, to launch a campaign against House Harkonnen.The film has recorded the biggest opening opening of 2024 across the globe with US and Canada leading the front.
