Farhan Akhtar broke the internet when he announced that Ranveer Singh will replace Shah Rukh Khan in the third installment of Don 3. This thriller is written by Farhan Akhar along with Pushkar- Gayatri, of Vikram Vedha and Suzhal- The Vortex fame. Some time back it was also announced that Kiara Advani has been roped in as the leading lady and that the movie will go on floors in the month of August. But it seems like there is a change of plan.
Recently, Farhan revealed in an interview that he will begin shooting for a new film in July, wherein he plays the lead actor and he wants to focus only on that. At this point not much details are available about this film. Also a source close to ‘Don 3’ revealed that the makers are finding it difficult to lock the antagonist. It was rumored that Emraan Hashmi had been roped in but the actor clarified on social media that the reports are untrue. Source also revealed that the writers have gone back to the drawing board to add more elements in the antagonist’s role and make it even more appealing. And with all these updates, it would be difficult for the makers to start shooting in August and also with Ranveer and Deepika Padukone expecting thier first child in September , so in all probability the project has been postponed to the end of 2024.
Farhan in his conversation with BBC had also addressed his decision to get Ranveer Singh on board for the film and said , “I am looking forward to get it going. I mean Ranveer is amazing, he is great for the part. He is also, as you can imagine, really excited and really nervous for the part that he will be filling some big shoes. We went through the same emotional process when Shah Rukh Khan did it and everyone was like oh my god, how can you replace Mr. [Amitabh] Bachchan. You know this whole thing happened then and it is really about an actor coming in, owning a part and giving it their style and their flair. And, he has that.”
