Pallavi Joshi has THIS to say about the opposition to Oscar’s bid for ‘The Kashmir Files’ – Times of India

Vivek Agnihotri’s ‘The Kashmir Files’ surprised one and all after it emerged as one of the unexpected hits of 2022. The film is also one of the contenders for India’s pick for the Oscars this year.

However, that decision has been facing criticism from a section of society that is reportedly not in favour of the film representing India on a global stage. Talking about the same, actress Pallavi Joshi told a news portal that she has spent four years making the film as a producer and actor and to her, it is like her baby. The actress added that she is extremely possessive about ‘The Kashmir Files’ and doesn’t like it being called names. Like a proud parent who has been told her son can become the President of the US, she feels good when someone says her film should go to the Oscars, Pallavi told Hindustan Times.

Elaborating more about the criticism that the film has been receiving, the actress added that because the film also makes a political statement, a lot of people who do not agree with that politics will oppose it. According to her, it is fine to have differing opinions. That’s what democracy is all about. However, an award is about cinematic merit, its cinematic excellence and flaws. Judge the film accordingly. But do so only on its cinematic merit, Pallavi told the news portal.

‘The Kashmir Files’ also starred Mithun Chakraborty, Anupam Kher and others in lead roles. The film did a record-breaking business at the box office.
