The film had a low opening of around 15-20 percent overall except a few multiplexes where it had a fair star, as per trade website boxofficeindia.com. Apparently, the opening of the film is similar to ‘Shamshera’ but this one has a much wider release in terms of its screens so that should add up to the higher collection.
But trade predicts that the film will be catering to multiplexes more than single screens owing to the on-going Navratri celebrations. As per the trade website, the makers should have released the film on October 5 which is the Dussehra holiday. That would have led to the film getting an extended 5-day weekend and it would have also motivated people to go watch the film once Navratri is over. Hence, it’s not expected to attracted footfalls in mass centres.
Meanwhile, another mega release which was highly anticipated is – ‘Ponniyin Selvan Part 1’. The Hindi version of the film has garnered Rs 1.50 crore nett. But, in Tamil Nadu, this Mani Ratnam film is set to be making more than Rs 20crore nett on day one.
The collections can be expected to get better over the weekend also depending on the word-of-mouth for both the projects.
