Ranveer Singh keen to play modern day Raja Babu – Times of India

Versatile actor Ranveer Singh who is currently promoting Cirkus was asked whether there was any genre that he had not yet acted in. Ranveer has already acted in rom-coms, historical epics, comedies and action films, but horror is one genre he is yet to explore.

Horror toh mein dekhta hee nahin, meri phat ti hain,” Ranveer said to Pinkvilla. With a twinkle in his eye, he explained that Deepika once switched on to an OTT platform for a film based on a serial killer. He added that after watching this film when they were planning to sleep, they both felt very wary of each other. He then added, “So all this eeriness I don’t do…horror is not my genre.”

Ranveer revealed that he was very keen to play a double role in a remake of the film, Raja Babu. He added that he keeps telling Varun Dhawan whose father, David Dhawan directed the 1994 film, Raja Babu, “
Kuch bhi karna, Raja Babu, mat karna.”

The Cirkus team discussed old Hindi classics featuring actors in double roles. The team recalled Dilip Kumar’s Ram Aur Shyam, besides other hits such as Seeta Aur Geeta. Rohit Shetty, director of Cirkus, who was also present, shared an anecdote. He said that his father was a stunt choreographer for Seeta Aur Geeta and his mother was a body double for Hema Malini in the same film.

Cirkus promises to be a fun film. Shetty added that he is confident that the film will entertain audiences. He said, “If you loved All the Best, Golmaal and Bol Bachchan, I feel you will love Cirkus too.”

The film features Ranveer and Varun Sharma in double roles, along with Pooja Hegde, Jacqueline Fernandez, with Deepika Padukone and Ajay Devgn making guest appearances.
