Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone’s song ‘Besharam Rang’ has been embroiled in controversy ever since its release. First, a section of right-wing outfits and a few BJP leaders had issues with the choreography of the number, then discussions were held over the saffron-coloured monokini Deepika had donned in the video.
Now, Pakistani singer Sajjad Ali has hinted that the ‘Pathaan’ song has apparently been lifted from his own song number, ‘Ab Ke Hum Bichare’ that he released 26 years ago.

Sajjad shared a video on his Instagram handle singing his song. He captioned the video, ‘After listening to a new movie’s song, It reminded me of my song I released 26 years ago, Ab Ke Hum Bichare. Enjoy!!’ While the singer has not pointed at any song in particular, netizens were quick to connect the dots.

As soon as the video was shared on social media, comments and likes poured in from all sides. While one of the fans wrote, ‘This sounds like Besharam Rang from Pathaan’, another one added, ‘Beautiful composition and song and its sad that they plagiarized it without giving you any credit.’ One of them also commented, ‘Bollywood should better pay royalty…They hv ruined this song (sic).’

While the fate of ‘Pathaan’ looks uncertain in India, it is a completely different scenario abroad. The film apparently made record-breaking advance ticket sales in Germany.
