Director Siddharth Anand reacts to the success of ‘Pathaan’, says he’s hungrier than before – Times of India

‘Pathaan’ has created many records just within two days of its release. The Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, Sidharth Anand starrer visual spectacle is the highest grossing film ever in the history of Indian cinema. It’s also the only film which has garnered 100-crore just in two days.
Everyone who has seen the film is stunned by its action, visual appeal, tight screenplay and the larger-than-life presence of SRK on-screen. Director Sidharth Anand reacted to this success and said, “Scripting history. Everyone wants it, but one cant plan it. It just happens. And when it does, it’s actually a very humbling experience. I’m feeling incredibly overwhelmed right now and inspired to get back on the film set and try and create something really special for audiences again. That’s my state of mind.”

Anand has done two back-to-back films which are a part of Aditya Chopra‘s spy universe and both of them – ‘WAR’ and ‘Pathaan’ have proven to be huge hits. With ‘Pathaan’, Siddharth Anand becomes the only Hindi film director to have two back to back 50 crore+ openers under his credit. But he’s not complacent now with success. He confesses he’s more hungry now. Siddharth added, “I’m hungrier than before to create more spectacles and immersive experiences like Pathaan. For me, yes numbers do matter. It is a validation of all the hard work but film-making is also a team game. So, I share this incredible moment with the entire cast and crew of Pathaan. Each one of us believed in a vision to create a never seen before theatrical experience that cuts across the length and breadth of the country and I’m glad we delivered on this promise.”
So far, ‘Pathaan’ has collected 113.6 crore gross on day 2, taking the total worldwide collection to an astronomical 219.6 crore gross! Apart from the lead actors’ striking presence, it’s Salman Khan‘s cameo as his character Tiger from the ‘Tiger’ franchise and the reunion of Karan and Arjun which has become a major talking point of the film.
