A plagiarism case filed against Ajith’s ‘Valimai’ almost after a year of its release – Times of India

Ajith collaborated with director H Vinoth for three continuous films, and the duo’s latest outing ‘Thunivu’ turned out to be a big hit. Ajith and H Vinoth’s second union ‘Valimai’ was released in theatres on February 24, 2022, and the film gained over Rs 200 crores at the box office. However, almost a year after the film’s release, a short film director named Rajesh Raja filed a complaint against the film at the Police commissioner’s office in Chennai against the ‘Valimai’ team. Rajesh Raja has reportedly claimed that the 10 scenes from his short film titled ‘Thanga Sangili’ which was released in 2019 are similar to a few scenes from Ajith’s ‘Valimai’.
Reports further state that Rajesh Raja tried meeting H Vinoth several times before to discuss this matter but he was unable to meet the director. Therefore, Rajesh Raja has reached out to the police commissioner’s office finally to find the solution to his problem. What has caught everyone’s attention is that the complaint has been filed almost after a year of the film’s release.

‘Valimai’ is about a cop battle against a drug mafia gang in the city, and his fight to save his younger brother, who is associated with the gang. Ajith played the role of a cop, while the film also has Huma Qureshi, Kartikeya, Raj Ayyappan, Gurbani Judge, and Sumithra among others in crucial roles. Yuvan Shankar Raja scored the music, while the cinematography was handled by Nirav Shah.
