‘Pathaan’, which has been ruling the ticket windows since its release in January, maintained a firm hold on its fifth Monday, dropping around 20-25% from its Friday collections. The film added another Rs 80 lakhs nett to its kitty, thus taking the total fifth-week collection to an estimated Rs 6.35 crore nett.
According to boxofficeindia, the film’s extended run at the box office can be linked to the failure of Kartik Aaryan’s ‘Shehzada’ and Akshay Kumar’s ‘Selfiee’ which underperformed at the box office. With a long holiday weekend coming up next week, trade experts have predicted that ‘Pathaan’ may just end its run on a strong note.
If the film continues to rake in the big bucks, it can look to end its fifth week with a total of over Rs 8 crore nett. This will be among the top ten fifth-week collections for a Hindi film.
The fact that RRR (Hindi), KGF 2 (Hindi), Kantara (Hindi), Drishyam and now Pathaan are among the top ten fifth weeks shows and five post-pandemic releases that have scored well at the box office. The collections of Pathaan to date are estimated to be around Rs502.35 crore.
In a recent promotional event of ‘Tu Jhooti Main Makkaar’, in Kolkata, Ranbir Kapoor heaped praise on Shah Rukh for his commendable achievement. “What Pathaan has managed to do, the film industry needed it. Very happy and grateful that Pathaan has done that. And I think Shah Rukh Khan deserves all the success for Pathaan. I have seen him as an actor, and I have been able to work with him several times. He gave so much to this industry. I am very proud of him,” he said at the event.
