Directed by Jude Anthany Joseph, ‘2018’ is a survival thriller, that is based on the 2018 Kerala floods. The upcoming film boasts a stellar cast, and Tovino Thomas is essaying one of the lead characters. The director has described ‘2018’ as “an action adventure, survival thriller, emotional drama, and inspirational story rolled into one.” Speaking to Kochi Times earlier, he spoke about the hardships the actors had to go through inorder to film ‘2018’. “It was a set where it was perpetually raining, windy and cold, and while they were constantly standing in water, they were incredibly supportive and uncomplaining, because they understood the effort being put into the film. Asif came down with high fever and nearly contracted pneumonia, Tovino did an underwater shot despite having an ear infection, Chackochan shot continually for three days without a break. It is probably the emotions the Kerala floods evoke that motivated them,” the director said.
