A source close to the project tells us, “The pre-production work on ‘Aashiqui 3’ has begun. It’s a massive brand, a massive franchise. So, there is bound to be a good amount of time spent on it before it goes on floors. But why would Kartik leave it? He has not only confirmed the project with the makers but even spoken about it in public domain.”
For those who’ve come in late, Kartik had even shared the motion poster of ‘Aashiqui 3’ on Instagram, and written, “Ab Tere Bin Ji Lenge Hum/ Zeher Zindagi Ka Pi Lenge Hum #Aashiqui3. This one is going to be heart-wrenching!! My First with Basu Da (Anurag Basu).”
Aashiqui 3 will be produced by Bhushan Kumar and mark the first collaboration between Anurag Basu and Kartik. The female lead of the film is yet to be finalised, though. Kartik is extremely keen to work with Anurag Basu who is unarguably a fine filmmaker. On the other hand, Anurag had also spoken about Kartik in an interview, saying, “It’d be my first venture with Kartik Aaryan, who is known for his hard work, dedication, grit and determination towards his work and I’m truly looking forward to this one.”
The franchise ‘Aashiqui’ began in 1990. It was produced by T-Series and directed by Mahesh Bhatt. T-Series and Vishesh Films were its joint distributors. Rahul Roy and Anu Aggarwal played the lead roles. And then, in 2013, Mohit Suri donned the director’s hat for ‘Aashiqui 2’ starring Aditya Roy Kapur and Shraddha Kapoor. ‘Aashiqui 2’ was produced by Mukesh Bhatt, Mahesh Bhatt, Bhushan Kumar and Krishan Kumar.
