John Abraham is known for his roles in successful films like ‘Pathaan‘, ‘Force’, and ‘Dostana’. However, his journey wasn’t always smooth sailing. Starting off as a model, John often found himself being cast based on his looks rather than his acting skills. Recently, a clip from Karan Johar’s popular talk show surfaced, shedding light on the first role that Karan had offered John.
During his appearance on the show, John candidly shared that Karan had initially offered him the role of Robby, Kareena Kapoor’s boyfriend, in the film ‘Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham’. However, John turned down the offer. Reflecting on the incident, he explained, “I used to seek a lot of advice from Karan, considering I was being offered numerous roles. It was during one of these discussions that he proposed a significant role in ‘K3G’ to me. But when I watched the film, I was searching for the character of Robby throughout, and couldn’t find him anywhere.” John and Karan both admitted the role was a small one with just one line in one scene.
Embarrassingly enough, Karan then revealed that he had known John for quite some time. He had previously served as a judge in a pageant where John emerged as the winner. At that time, Karan never imagined that John would go on to become such a prominent hero in the industry. Karan shared, “I thought his well-built physique would suit the ramp perfectly, but I never envisioned him as a big-screen star. Hence, I advised him to consider other options. However, he has come a long way since then and is now gracing the posters of my own films.”
Karan had produced Dostana which featured John along with Abhishek Bachchan and Priyanka Chopra.
