Prasoon Joshi, Chairperson of the Central Board of Film Certification, has condemned the allegations made against the CBFC by Mark Antony actor Vishal, who accused the censor board of corruption.
Now, as per the latest update, Prasoon Joshi, Chairperson of the Central Board of Film Certification has demanded a CBI inquiry about Vishal’s allegations.
The Central Board of Film Certification has written a letter to the reference of corruption made against CBFC by the Tamil actor Vishal for screening his film ‘Mark Antony’ and getting a U/A certificate for the Hindi version.
In a long statement, they wrote, “This is in reference to the allegations of corruption made against CBFC by the Tamil Actor, Mr Vishal for screening of his film ’Mark Antony’ and getting a U/A Certificate for Hindi Version.
We at IFTDA are concerned about these allegations made against CBFC officials.
We therefore demand a CBI enquiry against the complaint made. If any official is found guilty, serious action should be taken against the perpetrator of this crime of extortion from the Producers.
This is a dangerous trend which will be the reason for bringing bad name to the CBFC.
We are sending a copy of the accusation of the Tamil actor, Mr. Vishal for your perusal and sincerely hope that you would take immediate action to redeem the image of CBFC.”
Tamil actor Vishal earlier claimed that he paid a bribe of Rs 6.5 lakh to get a censor certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification before the release of the Hindi version of Mark Antony. He also said he has all the proof to back his claims.
Mark Antony was released on September 15 to a good response and the Hindi version was released in theatres on September 28.
