Ashutosh Gowariker recalls how he got Shah Rukh Khan and Aamir Khan in the same frame for Pehla Nasha | Hindi Movie News – Times of India

Ashutosh Gowarikar is known for his films like Lagaan, Swades, Jodha Akhar etc but not many would be aware that before luck smiled on him with Lagaan, he was an actor and always wanted be a director. He is till date the only actor who has been able to get Aamir Khan and Shah Rukh Khan in the same frame. He later worked with the two of them in films like Baazi, Lagaanand Swades.Ashutosh is currently in the limelight as he is back to acting with Kalapaani – a survival drama show. The show follows the lives of people trapped on an island, with no way to escape.

Talking about the scene, he mentioned that there were Saif Ali Khan, Rahul Roy and Sudesh Berry in a scene and they all had films as lead with them. And they all knew that he wanted to become a director including Aamir and Shah Rukh. All of them had a lot of faith in him as a director even before he had become one.
Elaborating further he stated that when all of them got to know that he was making his first film with Deepak Tijori as the lead, they were all very happy and they all felt that they should be part of the film as well. So everyone came in good camaraderie. He also shared that it was a cheeky award sequence where stars are playing themselves and are referencing their own films, like when SRK greets Deepak he says, “Tumne toh Chamatkar kar diya, Gentleman. Main toh tumhara Deewana hogaya,” while Aamir says, “Lekin lekin lekin Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar.”
He also revealed that it was a lot of fun shooting that sequence and once it was done, they celebrated the whole night.
