Sharman was already an aspiring actor and deeply involved in theater when his relationship with Prerana moved towards marriage. He revealed these insights in a podcast interview.
Sharman vividly recalled the first time he noticed Prerana in college. He asked his friend about the girl sitting on the last bench. When he learned that she was Prem Chopra’s daughter, he humorously admitted to feeling nervous about their potential union, joking that he used to have nightmares about Prem Ji.
Interestingly, Prem Chopra himself did not create any trouble in Sharman and Prerana’s relationship. Sharman emphasized that he was more concerned about how her dad would react. He described Prem Chopra as a wonderful gentleman and stated that it was Prerana’s mother who had been a bit more fierce in her initial reaction.
Sharman recognized the genuine concern of Prerana’s parents, considering the uncertainty of an actor’s career, especially during those times when television and OTT platforms were not as dominant as they are today. Sharman had started receiving love and recognition in the theater, which made him feel more secure.
He shared an interesting conversation he had with Prem Chopra about his career. When asked about his backup plan if he failed as an actor, Sharman confidently replied that he would be a ‘failed actor.’
