Raj Kundra, who recently faced a two-month imprisonment in connection with a pornography case, is now set to make his acting debut in a satirical film inspired by his time in prison.
In a candid interview with Indianexpress.com, Raj disclosed the depth of his despair during that challenging period, sharing that he had contemplated ending his life inside the prison.He also revealed that his wife, renowned actorShilpa Shetty, had suggested relocating abroad to escape the turmoil.
During the interview, Raj Kundra recounted how Shilpa was the first to propose the idea of leaving India. She had asked him, “Do you want to live abroad, Raj?” Shilpa reminded him that he had left everything behind in London, his birthplace, and had moved to India because she wished to be there. She assured him that she could make things work for them to settle abroad. However, Raj conveyed his love for India and his firm decision not to leave. He emphasized that individuals involved in significant crimes amass fortunes and flee the country, but since he had not committed any such wrongdoing, he was determined to stay in India.
Reflecting on his time in prison, Raj Kundra shared the emotional distress he endured as a result of the situation and the impact it had on his family. He described reaching a breaking point, hinting at having contemplated taking drastic measures inside. The ordeal had caused him immense humiliation and reputational damage, which extended to his wife, children, and parents as they faced undue media attention and scrutiny.
In terms of his professional pursuits, Raj Kundra is set to take on the lead role in the upcoming film ‘UT69,’ directed by Shahnawaz Ali, scheduled for release on November 3.
