Erik Jensen Cancer News: The Walking Dead actor Erik Jensen diagnosed with stage 4 cancer; Fundraise for his treatment crosses $100k | – Times of India

Erik Jensen, who featured in the fifth season of popular series The Walking Dead, has been diagnosed with stage 4 cancer.
In a GoFundMe post, his family revealed, “After miraculously surviving a brain aneurysm just a year and a half ago, our beloved Erik Jensen was just diagnosed with Stage IV colorectal cancer. The cancer has metastasized to his liver, but Erik is young and strong (cutting a film during chemo, working full-time as a director and writer throughout) and his doctors think they have a shot at shrinking the tumors enough to do two very major surgeries and get them all out.He can make it through this. But Erik and his family are in for the fight of their lives, and they need your support.”
Owing to the prolonged Hollywood strikes and Jensen’s previous aneurysm, his family, consisting of his wife Jessica and their 13-year-old daughter Sadie, is aiming to gather $300,000 to cover the costs of cancer treatment, ensure the retention of their home, and provide a semblance of stability for Sadie.
Walking Dead cast and crew members have been extended support by sharing the GoFundMe page. The franchise’s chief content officer Scott Gimple shared the link of the fundraiser on X and wrote, “One of TWD’s own could use a little help. Erik Jensen, who played Dr. Steven Edwards in S5 was just diagnosed with cancer, and it’s a time of great uncertainty for him and his family. If you want to send something his way.” While Jeffrey Dean Morgan, who plays Negan in the series, penned, “Never had the chance to work with Erik… until now anyway. Only have heard many things about what a great guy he is. I do know he and his could use some help…. Of any and all kind.”
Thanks to the immense support from fans, it has been reported that Erik Jensen’s GoFundMe fundraiser has surpassed $100,000 in donations. This milestone was achieved in just 24 hours after his cancer diagnosis was reported.
Jensen essayed the role of Dr Steven Edwards on season five of The Walking Dead, and also featured in Mr. Robot and For Life.
