Mona Singh, known for her pivotal role in the iconic film “3 Idiots” alongside Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor, shared an amusing behind-the-scenes anecdote from the movie. Recounting her experience during the delivery scene, she detailed a playful yet intense moment with Aamir Khan.
In a recent interview with Humans Of Bombay, Mona Singh reflected on shooting the memorable scene where her character goes into labour amid a rainstorm. While discussing the scene’s intensity with the cast, Aamir Khan suggested she slap him for authenticity. Mona initially gave a light slap, but upon Aamir’s insistence for a genuine one, she went “fullSardarni josh” and delivered a more forceful slap, surprising even Aamir’s bodyguards.
Describing the camaraderie on set, Mona praised the grounded nature of the actors, emphasising their lack of starry airs. She appreciated their down-to-earth approach, expressing surprise at their unassuming attitudes, contrary to her initial expectations from actors in the industry.
“3 Idiots” was a monumental success, garnering accolades both domestically and internationally. The film’s impact extended beyond its entertainment value, earning three National Awards and significantly influencing perceptions about education in India and neighboring countries like China. The movie’s resonance led to remakes in Tamil as “Nanban” (2012), receiving critical acclaim, and even a Mexican adaptation titled “3 Idiotas” in 2017.
On the other hand, audiences are eagerly waiting for Rajkumar Hirani’s next project ‘Dunki’ starring Shah Rukh Khan, releasing on December 22.
