NCT 127 leader Taeyong’s possible early military enlistment raises concerns among fans | K-pop Movie News – Times of India

In a recent concert in Seoul, NCT 127 members wrapped up their performance with heartfelt messages, leaving fans with mixed emotions. While the joy of the show lingered, anxiety crept in as leader Taeyong hinted at uncertainties about his future plans, particularly regarding the group’s January tour.
Expressing stress over the conflicting information about the tour, Taeyong said, “The members and managers keep saying it’s our last but we still have a tour after! I was really stressed about this actually… The tour in January..I’m not sure if I can say this but I don’t know how it’ll turn out…”
The cause for concern arises from South Korea’s mandatory military service, lasting 18 to 21 months, that all able-bodied men must fulfill before turning 30. Born in 1995, Taeyong is nearing this age limit, prompting worries among fans.
Addressing the issue, Taeyong apologised to the members, saying, “And I feel like I burdened the members here with this problem, so I’m incredibly sorry.”
South Korean law also imposes travel restrictions six months before enlistment, fueling speculation about Taeyong’s potential absence from the January tour. Fans fear the immediate impact on the group’s dynamics, given Taeyong’s central role as both leader and performer.
The concern extends beyond the tour, with fans anticipating the long-term impact on Taeyong’s career. Eager for more solo projects and artistic exploration, fans worry that an early enlistment could temporarily disrupt his music production and group activities.
Fans worldwide are rallying on social media and fan forums, expressing collective support for Taeyong. Regardless of official announcements, they hope for clarity and wish him the time and space to achieve personal and professional goals. As uncertainty looms, fans are determined to make the most of the time left before Taeyong’s potential enlistment, supporting him unwaveringly through the journey ahead.
