KWK 8: Karan Johar says the outrage over Ranveer Singh-Deepika Padukone episode angered him, asks ‘what do people know about marriage?’ – Times of India

The pilot episode of the 8th season of Koffee with Karan featured power couple Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh. The duo were at their candid best and spoke at length about their marriage and what makes them tick. However, the episode faced brutal trolling as well, with many saying that prior to getting married to him, Deepika was using Ranveer just as an option.

Karan, in the latest episode of his show, featuring Aditya Roy Kapurand Arjun Kapoor, spoke about the incessant trolling and said it was ‘ridiculous’.

He said, “I felt that it was one of the most honest episodes and the most heartfelt episodes I did with Deepika and Ranveer. I think all three of us kind of came clean on so much of our emotional heft, so many of our feelings. And then there was a ridiculous kind of aftereffect. I just want to put it out there that episode angered me, and the reaction angered me. I thought it was one of our best episodes. They were outstandingly honest.”

Karan Johar tags ‘Animal’ director Sandeep Reddy Vanga as he opens up about gender politics; says ‘You don’t want to make those mistakes…’

He carried on, “They were earnest. They spoke so much. They shared so much. They were so gracious. And then you’re f*cking talking about some nonsense. I am like, ‘What do you know about somebody else’s personal life and marriage?’ Tu apne ghar pe dekh na (Look at what’s happening at your own home) is what I wanted to tell them. I wanted to show them my f*cking middle finger! I am like, you know, just shut up.”
In the same epiosde, Karan opened up about his anxiety attack and admitted that he has been taking medication for anxiety after consulting a professional.

“What happens to me or anybody else, it can happen to anybody. It doesn’t mean you need a trigger, sometimes it is a result of many things, sometimes there’s a trigger. When I spoke about my anxiety, it was to share a part of life that exists. That exists today as well, while I speak. I’ve no fear in saying that ‘I’m on medication,” he added.
