Ranbir Kapoor is earning much acclaim for his latest release ‘Animal’. Recently, he talked about the kind of popularity he enjoys and the kind of cultural impact that his grandfather, Raj Kapoor, has had. December 14, 2023, marks Raj Kapoor’s 99th birth anniversary.
A decade ago, in a conversation with The Big Indian Picture, Ranbir had said that he wanted to be the best at his job and not just be critically acclaimed.He also said that he doesn’t want to do movies where just the cities know him but the whole of India should know him and that he wants to reach small villages.
Recalling an anecdote about his legendary grandfather, Ranbir said that he had heard so many stories about Raj Kapoor and is very interested in knowing about his life. RK was only six years old when his grandfather passed away. The actor recalled that his grandfather went to Russia for the premiere of ‘Awaara’ and when he came out of the theatre, there was a huge mob of Russians just waiting to see him. Raj Kapoor then went inside his car, and all these people carried his car and took him to the hotel. Now, that’s a different level of stardom and love.
