In an interview with Rashmi Uchil, Soni shared a memory from a trip to Dubai with her daughters Alia and Shaheen. Due to budget constraints, she opted for a first-class ticket while her children traveled in economy.During the flight, Soni noticed the lady in front of her daughters had reclined her seat, leaving them with limited space. When Soni asked if they were okay and suggested asking the lady to adjust her seat, the children declined, not wanting to inconvenience a senior citizen. Despite the discomfort, Soni emphasized that it wasn’t a significant issue.
Soni explained her perspective on having her kids travel in economy, stating, “My logic was that you have not earned enough to travel in business class yet. Once you earn enough to afford the business class fare, please travel in business class. Simple as that.”

Soni Razdan mentioned that while they never had plenty, we managed fine, and highlighted that her two children experienced a normal, regular middle-class upbringing. She shared that there was never an abundance of money and mentioned living in a two-bedroom apartment until 2004. Soni explained that money started coming in only after Mahesh became a producer. However, even then, he had two households to support as he was previously married to Kiran Bhatt, with whom he has two children – Pooja Bhatt and Rahul Bhatt.
Soni mentioned that during that period, she owned a Maruti Zen and personally drove her kids to school in that car. She expressed satisfaction that her children had a typical middle-class upbringing, mirroring her own upbringing. While her husband had a car and a driver, she, in contrast, had a Zen and took on the responsibility of driving the children to school and picking them up.
