Vijay Sethupathi, known for his acting prowess, often receives compliments for his work and humble demeanor. However, there’s one label he doesn’t want associated with him – being called a “simple man.”

During a recent Bollywood Hungama event, when a fan praised his simplicity, Sethupathi gently disagreed, saying, “Everybody says this, but it is not true.” He clarified that his comfortable peach shirt and trousers aren’t about simplicity; they are expensive choices.

Sethupathi, gaining recognition in Hindi-speaking regions, emphasized that attending events in simple clothes isn’t a “drama” for him; it’s his way of living. He stressed, “They have been looking at me and telling me that I am very simple. But this is not the case. I do not even do drama. I am really comfortable in this.” If he felt comfortable in a blazer and a James Bond hat, he would wear that, he added, rejecting the “simple man” label.

His recent release, “Merry Christmas,” marks his third Hindi film, following Santosh Sivan’s “Mumbaikar” and Atlee Kumar’s Shah Rukh Khan-starrer “Jawan.” Sethupathi also appeared in the Hindi web series “Farzi,” alongside Shahid Kapoor. In another interview, he explained his limited public appearances are to avoid overexposure and ensuring audiences connect with his characters.
