The Pop superstar’s fans successfully identified the individual responsible for posting the AI-generated images online. The images in question, went viral on X and other platforms, raising concerns about the potential uncontrollable flood of harmful content facilitated by easy-to-use AI tools. One such image of Swift amassed a staggering 47 million views on X before being removed by the app.
X, owned by Elon Musk, issued a statement asserting its commitment to actively removing identified images and taking appropriate actions against the responsible accounts. The platform emphasized ongoing vigilance to ensure swift response to any further violations.
Amidst the outrage, an X user with the handle @Zvbear was among those sharing the offensive images. In a display of defiance, the man boasted that Swifties would never uncover his identity, comparing himself to the Joker and claiming to use fake information.
However, the determined Swifties proved him wrong and reportedly identified him as 28-year-old Zubear Abdi. It is unclear if the man in question is the culprit, but that didn’t stop Swift’s army from condemning his actions and sharing his details to enable authorities to take necessary action and potentially get him to face legal consequences.
The White House weighed in on the matter, expressing its ‘alarm’ over the fake online images. White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre, in a news briefing, emphasized the importance of social media companies enforcing their rules to prevent the spread of misinformation. She said, “This is very alarming. And so, we’re going to do what we can to deal with this issue.”
