Did Sandeep Reddy Vanga indirectly ‘helped’ in promoting Kiran Rao’s Laapataa Ladies? | Hindi Movie News – Times of India

After Sandeep Reddy Vanga criticized Kiran Rao for not condemning Aamir Khan‘s “Dil” while scrutinizing his own film “Kabir Singh” starring Shahid Kapoor, Rao has now responded. She acknowledged that Vanga’s remarks indirectly promoted her upcoming film “Laapataa Ladies.” Rao is currently promoting her directorial venture, and appreciated the unintended publicity generated by Vanga’s comments.
During her conversation with Connect FM Canada, Rao was asked if Vanga talking about her and she responding to his statements has in anyway benefitted her upcoming film. To this, she said, “I did feel like I had to respond and I did, so that’s out there. I guess if people have seen it, now they know who I am and that I have a film coming on March 1.”
It all started when Vanga in an interview with Dainik Bhaskar commented on an interview of Kiran Rao where she mentioned the inherent misogyny in Kabir Singh. Responding to it, Sandeep said, “Some people don’t understand what they are saying. One assistant director showed me the article from this superstar’s second ex-wife where she was saying that Baahubali and Kabir Singh promote misogyny, promote stalking. I think she doesn’t understand the difference between stalking and approaching. I want to tell that woman that go and ask Aamir Khan about the song ‘Khambe Jaisi Khadi Hai’, what was that?”
In her interview with Quint, Kiran Rao was asked to comment about Vanga’s statement. She defended Aamir and mentioned that Aamir has asked for an apology for the same film. She said, “Honestly, if Mr Reddy has something to tell Aamir, he should do it man to man. I am not responsible for Aamir’s work or Aamir Khan.”
Kiran is currently promoting her upcoming film Laapataa Ladies which brings her back on the director’s chair after a long gap. Her last film as a director was Dhobi Ghat.
