During the conversation on the YouTube channel Unfiltered by Samdish, when asked about Aamir Khan facing repercussions for his statement about intolerance in the country, which resurfaced in 2022 prior to the release of Laal Singh Chaddha, Vikrant Massey responded with, “Nahi tha? (Did he not face it?)” He then continued, “This is it.What can we do about it? Then you go back to the old adage which says ignorance is bliss. Apna ghar baar dekho, apna parivar dekho. (Take care of your house, your family).”
Vikrant further emphasized that in reality, we don’t inhabit a perfect world, and everyone, including celebrities, has personal responsibilities such as taking care of their families and paying bills. Regarding Naseeruddin Shah, known for his outspoken political views, Vikrant noted that Shah is in a different phase of life at the age of 70, allowing him the liberty to express himself more openly.
Vikrant Massey apologises for his old tweet featuring Lord Ram and Goddess Sita; says ‘I realise the distasteful nature of it’
The actor from ‘12th Fail‘ remarked that the current world is considerably more aggressive, especially with the prevalence of social media, which grants easy access to diverse opinions. He noted that while various perspectives have always existed, they are now readily available with just a click. He mentioned that many individuals feel overwhelmed by these myriad viewpoints, and it’s understandable for them to declare themselves apolitical, even if they may not truly be so.
On Wednesday, Vikrant issued an apology for a 2018 tweet. He wrote, “In context to one of my Tweets way back in 2018, I’d like to say a few words: It was never my intention to hurt, malign or disrespect the Hindu community.” He continued, “But as I reflect in hindsight about a Tweet made in jest, I also release the distasteful nature of it. The same could have been said without adding the cartoon which was published in a newspaper. And I’d with utmost humility like to apologise to each and everyone who has been hurt 🙏🏽”
